The Alamance-Burlington School System is proud to announce Cindy Kreider, a special education teacher at Highland Elementary, as the 2023 Exceptional Children Educator of Excellence. Kreider has dedicated over 30 years to teaching students with special needs.
Superintendent Dr. Dain Butler and members of the District’s leadership team surprised Kreider with flowers Tuesday morning in her classroom.
Kreider has been a beloved member of the Highland Elementary community since 2007. She earned her degree in special education and has spent her entire career empowering students with diverse abilities. Her compassion and creativity in the classroom has made a difference for countless children.
"It's the children for me. I learn from them every day," says Kreider. "Every child is different and they each have their unique abilities and I was drawn to that which is why I became a teacher."
Kreider will be honored for her work at the 72nd Conference on Exceptional Children held at the Koury Convention Center in Greensboro on October 23-25, 2023. The event pays special tribute to educators of exceptional children across North Carolina.
