Seneca Rogers was sworn in tonight by Alamance County District Court Judge Larry Brown as the newest member of the Alamance-Burlington School System Board of Education. Rogers, a lifelong resident of Alamance County, was appointed to fill the seat left vacant by the retirement of longtime board member Patsy Simpson.
Rogers is a proud graduate of Cummings High School (Class of 1998) and North Carolina A&T State University (Class of 2022), where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Political Science. He currently works as a Reimbursement Analyst at LabCorp, where he has been employed for 17 years.
Active in the community, Rogers has volunteered as a track coach at Cummings High School and served as a public education advocate. Most recently, he completed the United Citizens Police Academy and mentors students at the Kings Academy at North Park.
As a member of Future Alamance, Rogers has participated in numerous community service initiatives including backpack and Thanksgiving dinner giveaways and voter registration drives.
Rogers ran unsuccessful campaigns for the Board of Education in 2020 and 2022 but continued to make his voice heard on issues impacting East Burlington schools and neighborhoods.
As a new board member, he looks forward to uplifting minority and underrepresented communities across Alamance County.
"I'm excited to serve the students, families and residents of Alamance County," said Rogers. "As someone who graduated from Alamance-Burlington Schools, it's an honor to help shape the direction of the school district for future generations."
Rogers will serve the remainder of the unexpired term which runs through 2024.
