The Alamance-Burlington School System Board of Education has announced the appointment of Mr. Aaron Acome as the new principal of Western Alamance Middle School. The decision was made during the August 26, 2024 board meeting.

Mr. Acome brings 25 years of educational experience to his new role. His career began as a social studies teacher at East Chapel Hill High School, where he spent 16 years in the classroom committed to student achievement and innovative curriculum development.

"I am honored and excited to join the Western Alamance Middle School community," said Acome. "My goal is to work collaboratively with our dedicated staff, students, and families to create an environment where every student can thrive academically and personally. Together, we will build on the school's strengths and continue to provide an outstanding education that prepares our students for future success."

Throughout his career, Mr. Acome has held various positions, including his most recent role as Assistant Principal at Eastern Alamance High School. His administrative experience also includes positions as Interim Principal and Assistant Principal in Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools and Orange County Schools.

Mr. Acome's academic background includes a Master of School Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Bachelor of Arts in History and Teacher Education from Elon University.

As a husband and father of four, with the youngest currently a middle school student in the Alamance-Burlington School System, Mr. Acome brings both professional expertise and personal insight to his new role.
