Alamance County Sheriff Terry Johnson donated $2,000 to the Cummings High School Band Boosters.
The CHS band has been selected to perform at the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans on December 31, 2022.
The money will be used for uniforms and travel expense and other needs.
Sheriff Johnson presented the check during the Maverick Radio Morning Show. The check was accepted by Maverick owner Chuck Marsh, who along with Chuck Hursey of Hursey’s Bar B Que, have been organizing the fundraiser.
While on air, Sheriff Johnson said, “I am challenging business leaders and the community to donate what you can. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for these young people to perform and represent our community and they deserve it”.
